Teenaged girls aren't that difficult to choose gifts for yet so many people get it wrong. Don't force your teenager to put a false smile on her face, buy her a gift that she will truly love. As the mother of two teenage daughters, I have the inside track on what girls wish for. While each young woman has her own interests, and each is an individual, here are some ideas for gifts that I have heard teen girls say that they would like to receive this year.

A few things to keep in mind that will help direct you to the perfect gift idea for the teenager on your Christmas list this year.

1. Is she a girly-girl? If not, please avoid bows, frills and pink of any kind. Just because it's labeled as something all girls will like does NOT mean she will actually like it.
2. What hobbies does she enjoy? Maybe she enjoys painting, rock climbing, writing poetry or origami. Hobbies make her unique. Cue in.

   What are her favorite colors? Taking the time to notice this and get a gift in this color says a lot. If the gift can't be found in that color, the wrapping paper certainly can be.

3. Take notes! Teenaged girls are usually good about mentioning things they love. If they don't, check out things they display like posters, stickers on their notebook, things they draw on their shoes. Wherever inspiration strikes, take note! The gift doesn't have to be fancy if it is something that she is really into. Showing you took the time to notice is a big part of the gift.
4. Observe the t-shirts she wears. Often they display bands or other things that give giant clues as to what she is into. While you're at it, observe her décor choices as well. Notice any recurring themes like horses, butterflies, skulls... whatever.
5. Ask her parents or friends if you aren't sure. If you are really brave, just ask the girl herself. You don't have to say "What do you want for Christmas?" You could ask "So, I haven't seen you in awhile. What have you been up to? Do you still like... " Get the conversation going.
